Yeah! You’ve made it!

First things first, check your email. There should be a message from me saying (very simply!) “hello”. It’s just there so your email system learns to accept emails from me. If I’m in your spam folder I’ll not take it personally but it’s a good idea to drag me out and into your inbox. Go do it now – before you forget!

Okay, on to what happens next...

Now that we’ve got the technicalities out of the way you’ll get an email a few days before the sprint starts giving you the Zoom information. I recommend you check out that your Zoom is up to date and that everything is working by “test-joining” the Zoom(s) as soon as you can. You’ll probably be held in the waiting room but that’s fine – you don’t need to get into the room, you just need to check that everything works.

Also in the emails I send you will be your workbook – well a link to it at least! 🙂 If you can print it, it’s a good idea, because writing things by hand helps them stick in your head better. If you can’t do that, don’t sweat it, just make sure you’ve got it handy for the sprint meetings.

Lastly, as soon as you can, I strongly recommend you put time in your diary. Put the actual morning sprint meetings in, and depending on how your diary works, I suggest putting in ten minutes “travel time” too. That’s ten minutes to get your tea or coffee etc, turn on Do Not Disturb and get to the Zoom room before the meeting starts. Arriving late because an emergency happens is fine – it happens to everyone – but being late because you didn’t get organised is disrespectful to the other sprinters 🙂

If you prefer, why not subscribe to this Google Calendar and sync it into whatever electronic calendar you use: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=Y181cG8wMjd1dGk1NzU3MmNzMjZqMWZjcWdwc0Bncm91cC5jYWxlbmRhci5nb29nbGUuY29t

Don’t forget to set aside for doing the actual work. You can skip these afternoon sessions if you want, but if you’ve got them in your diary at least you won’t forget them. But don’t skip the morning sprint sessions! You’ve paid for it, so turn up for it! 🙂
