Speaker’s Sprint week

You are what a speaker looks like.

Most presentation advice is either fluff or performance coaching. This isn’t either.

The StoryMaking System is built from 400+ research papers and thousands of hours of observational research — designed to help you create presentations using a system, not luck.

Just like water flowing downhill there are predictable ways to get a good presentation sorted out. Sure, once you know the rules you can start to play with them like I do, but learn the rules first, eh?

As a leading UK presentation trainer, I’ve seen countless professionals struggle to connect with their audience, get their message across, or simply feel confident on stage (or screen!).

Imagine if, in just 5 focused days, you could go from “panic” to “polished”. YMMV!

We won’t be doing these in order, but you’ll cover:

  • 1: Stop starting wrong
No more cheesy “big impact” openers. We start with what actually works
  • 2: Structure it right
Nail your message and map it to your audience’s brain
  • 3: Design slides that serve, not suck
create your slides the same way professionals do – to support not distract
  • 4: Rehearse smart — feel cooler
Learn the tricks pros use to feel ready fast. We’ll look at confidence tools too!
  • 5: End like you mean it
Because if you don’t close strong, nothing else matters. Learn the four3s method

Is the Speaker’s Sprint Week for me?

Got a talk to give — or know one’s coming? — this is for you.

Whether you’re terrified, rusty, or just sick of being average… in five days, you’ll have a solid presentation and a repeatable method to build more.

This is practical. Research-based. No jazz hands.

This sprint is perfect for professionals, entrepreneurs, team leaders, and anyone who can handle UK timezones!

Meet Your Host:

I’m Simon, one of the UK’s leading presentation trainers. It’s Dr Simon Raybould if you’re being formal.

I’m a TEDx speaker, and I’ve spoken to audiences from single figures to thousands. I’ve worked with clients from pre-start-ups all the way to multinationals like Dell Computers. I’ve coached other new TEDx speakers. I’ve been described by the National President of the Professional Speaking Association of UK & Ireland as “the highlight of the conference” and also “simply outstanding”.

After two successive standing ovations at my professional body’s national conferences I think I know a thing or two about it.

I’m also the author of three books on presenting. Presentation Genius was a top ten best seller on the high street. (Yes, that really is as cool as it sounds!) My latest book, StoryMaking is available on Amazon.

The really important thing though? I spent 24 years as a research scientist. I used to be the Centre Manager for the UK’s largest social science research unit. That means I don’t do the fluffy “try this, it worked for me”. Nope. I do the “this is what the research says most, for most people most of the time”. That’s what makes me and my approach (the StoryMaking System) so useful.

  • When does the Sprint start? The next Sprint with available dates is October: (Monday 27th to Friday 31st. At 08:30 and optionally 14:30.) You’ll get reminder emails so you don’t forget and you can subscribe to a Google Calendar so it’s magically in your diary!
  • How will I receive the daily content? The “guts” of the challenge is a set of live sessions, but you’ll also get an email before each session with a carefully designed workbook for you to take notes and use as revision. The email will also have a couple of tips and tools for you to use, and references to other resources online. You’ll also get a video of the live morning sessions.
  • How much time will it take each day? We’ll meet in person for 30 to 45 minutes at 08:30. You’ll need to set that time aside. After that it’s up to you. There’s an optional drop in session in the afternoon that you can skip, pop into with a question, or use as co-working time.
  • Is it really this cheap? Absolutely! My goal is to help you unlock your potential. … and of course I expect quite a lot of people to want to join my StoryMaking Academy afterwards. Don’t panic, I’ll not be doing a hard sell during the Sprint (or even after it!)
  • Can I cancel? Yeah – but only for health or similar reasons, not because you’ve just chickened out of the hard work! 😉
  • Will I work on my own presentation? – Yes, though some presentations are easier to work with than others. If you’re in any doubt, just ask!
